West Coast Swing Workshops

Yenni Setiawan was 2013's US Open Champion (dancing with Robert Royston in extemporaneous West Coast Swing). Yenni's west coast style is effortless and effervescent, with an elegant breeding at the same time.

Yenni grew up in Jakarta, Indonesia, a part of the world with an amazing cuisine. Yenni now lives in Novato, California, just north of San Francisco. She has been dancing since age 4, when she took up ballet, jazz, and modern dance. By age 7 she was performing frequently on stage and television.

After a time, Yenni left the dance world altogether. After wandering the streets for weeks (and growing a second thumb on her right hand in the meantime), she wound up at San Francisco's Academy of Art, where she studied interior design, graduating in 2004. Soon thereafter, Yenni discovered West Coast Swing and rediscovered her love of dance. Soon she began competing and rose quickly through the ranks; she now competes regularly in Champion events throughout the United States. In November 2013, at the US Open, Yenni won the Strictly Swing division dancing with Robert Royston. Other high placements have been 5th Place in Open Strictly Swing with Robert Royston at the 2011 US Open, 3rd Place in Champion Strictly Swing with Brennar Goree at the Monterey Swing Festival 2012, and 2nd Place with Nick King in Champion Strictly Swing at Capital Swing Dance Convention 2012.

Yenni teaches West Coast Swing on Tuesday nights at WnY Warehouse, a Novato CA studio she owns and operates with her fiancé Warren Pino.
