In the two workshops on October 10, you will learn choreography to a specific song. Learning choreography enables dancers to learn technique and musicality simultaneously. It is the primary reason why West Coast Swing dancers who perform routines are often excellent social dancers. On Sat, Oct 10, Erik and Anna will bring choreography to the beginner level.

Erik Novoa has been dancing for 20 years, starting with ballet and continuing through jazz, modern dance, musical theatre, tap and finally, in 1998, west coast swing. In the next couple of years, he soared through the rankings; Erik has been a top-10 finalist in the US Open three times. At about the same time, Erik took up Hustle and, in short order, won the national championship in two back to back years. Erik is currently one of the major forces for both dances in the Northeast and in 2006 received the "Best of the Gold Coast" award for Best Way to Get in Step. Erik has a brilliantly inventive dance style and a commanding and infectious teaching style which you won't want to miss.

Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota (home of Prince), Anna Brady combines the discipline of classical ballet with the creativity of partner dancing. She trained and performed in both classical and modern ballet styles. Anna also competed in ballroom/latin dance while at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Anna has recently performed with Erik in the contemporary ballet pieces "Ordinary Day" (choreographed by Erik & Anna) and "The Player" (choreographed by Anna). She is known throughout the northeast for her "Spins, Turns & Technique" classes for partner dancing.

In this workshop, you will learn the movement material for the choreography to be learned in the second workshop and its component parts.

8:00 - 9:00 Choreography Using Basic Moves: 
In this workshop, you will learn actual choreography using only basic moves -- you'll be AMAZED at how cool the stuff is.

9:00 - 12:00  West Coast Swing "Etc" Party
